World Of Warcraft Tree Of Life
This is based on the previous WoW Druid Tree of Life form (pre-Cata). The head, hands and legs are made of RKT and the body is all cake. The bark "effect" was merely chance because the fondant ripped and tore and I had a hard time with it. My mom started patching it up and it turned out better than my original idea. :)

World Of Warcraft Cantilever Cake
This is my attempt at a cantilever cake. I made this cake for my own birthday, and I wanted it to be something different and WoW-themed. My husband and I both play World of Warcraft (as do many of our friends). This cake was a labor of love, but I think it turned out pretty fantastic. I don't have a background in art, and all the painting and cutouts were done freehand. The structure is: 1/2" plywood base, flange, pvs adapter (I call it a screwcap), PVC pipe for center support, and dowel rods for support under each tier. Only one tier was fake, and I only did that to minimize the amount of leftover cake. One side was my character, another was a zoomed in shot of her weapon, the bottom was her pet (a wolf) with the Kill Command icon, and the rest were other shots and aspects related to hunters in the game.

Pink, White And Brown Slice Cake
This cake is the chocolate version of the WASC cake. The recipe was found on this site. :) I decorated the cake with everything but the flowers and boarder, then I cut the wedge out and put the piece on its own board for support. I then used chocolate fondant to cover the edges.

Black And Gold
I made this cake to take to work to celebrate our student employee's graduation from Purdue. We were sad that she was leaving, but excited for her to begin her life. The cake is a 6" round, iced in butter cream. It is decorated with gumpaste decoration (rose and bow) and a black satin ribbon border. The roses were my first ever attempt!! The bow is yellow fondant with tylose added, and painted with gold luster dust mixed with clear vanilla. Thanks for looking!

Black And Pink With Apple Blossoms
Photo courtesy of Kimi Coopet, of Coopet Photography in the Twin Cities area of Minnesota, used with full rights and permission. This cake was made as a gift for my friend's wedding. I took the idea to wire the blossoms from Lexia's cherry blossom cake here: http://www.cakecentral.com/cake-photo_1561254.html . The apple blossoms were made using the blossom kit sold by Jennifer Dontz. I used wire through the center of the blossom, and used yellow royal icing to help adhere and for the appearance of stamens. I used green floral tape, and brown ribbon (couldn't find brown floral tape in time) for the branch. The cake is 12", 10" and 6" tiers, with black satin ribbon around the base, and a thinner black satin ribbon above. This cake traveled 9.5 hours, un-stacked.

Apple Blossoms
I made this cake for my mom's birthday, which also fell on Mother's Day this year. I blatantly took the overall design look from Lexia's cherry blossom cake. She is truly the talent here. :) The apple blossoms were made using the blossom kit sold by Jennifer Dontz. I used wire through the center of the blossom, and used yellow royal icing to help adhere and for the appearance of stamens. I used green floral tape, and brown ribbon (couldn't find brown floral tape in time) for the branch. Thanks for looking!!!

Pint O' Guinness
This is about 7 cake layers, measuring at around 10" tall. I learned some lessons on this, but I'm pleased with the results. I should have added supports for every two layers, but I just had the dowel through the middle (my father made the very stable structure). I started with 4" and 5" cakes, and carved to get a more gradual cut in at the bottom. The word Guinness and the harp were cut out of fondant, though I would have had better results with gumpaste. I painted on the rest with luster dust and food coloring. The cake is covered in dark chocolate fondant, and ivory. My DH loved it, and was very happy with his birthday cake.

Pink And Brown Dots
I made this cake for a coworker whose friend was having a baby. The decorations were inspired by the baby bedding her friend is using. The board and decorations are fondant or fondant with tylose. The cake is iced in butter cream icing. The baby booties were created with the JEM cutters, and the name was created with the Wilton fondant and gumpaste letter set.

Cupcake Bouquet
I made this cupcake bouquet at the request of my mother-in-law for my sister-in-law. It is to celebrate her starting her second year of Vet school. This one was a bit of trial and error, but managed to make it work. :) I used nut cups loosely wrapped with green cellophane and two toothpicks per cupcake. The base is a terra-cotta pot wrapped with pieces (had to cut it in pieces in order to get it to wrap around nicely) of fabric ribbon (got a great deal!).
