Birthday Cake - Martini Celebration
This was for my stepdaughter's 20th Birthday (Christmas Day). She requested the Martini theme, even though she isn't old enough to drink. I made the ribbons, olives, gold pearls and martini glasses out of gumpaste. I added details with edible writing pens. The cake is iced in crusting buttercream, and the cake is a combination of red velvet and chocolate. One 10" round (3" high) and one 5" round (3" high).

Practice Fish Cake - Used In Groom's Cake Display - Alicia's Big Catch On March 31, 2007
This was the first fish cake I created using fondant (it was apple-cinamon cake) back in February 2007 in preparation for my stepdaughter's wedding on March 31, 2007. I baked the 3 cakes that made up the Grooms Cake Display entitled "Alicia's BIG Catch" - this was my first-ever fondant project and it was a LOT of fun! I used mini-marshmallow fondant after trying and not liking the traditional recipie.

Camoflage And Beer 29Th Birthday Cake
I made this for my stepson's 29th birthday in March 2007. I used a patterned VIVA paper towel for the crusted-buttercream method (from this site) to obtain the smooth look. The beer bottle and lettering were in fondant (I was just learning about fondant - this was practice for my project for my stepdaughter's wedding on March 31, 2007 for the groom's cakes). The cake was strawberry.

Buttercream Cakes - From "alicia's Big Catch" - Grooms Table (Pic 1 Of 3)
For my stepdaughter's wedding on March 31, 2007. The display titled "Alicia's Big Catch" had 3 cakes: 1) a fondant-covered FISH (apple cinamon) painted in edible colors and luster dust, 2) a buttercream "camo" cake (strawberry chocolate chip) with a comic bride and groom topper, and 3) a buttercream basketweave fishing creel (chocolate). I hadn't decorated cakes for about 3 years, and it was fun to do this again. This was my 1st fondant project. RIGHT-CLICK Photo and "Open in New Window" for CLOSEUP!
