Stud Finder
Customer's bday boy apparently gives all the women that have birthdays in his friends/family stud finders as he is known as Mr. Stud. I've been told his wife thinks otherwise ; ) Red velvet cake with vanilla buttercream and Satin Ice fondant. Edible image is made to look like it was torn out of a paper.

1983 Fender Stratocaster Guitar
Made this for my boyfriend - he used to be really into guitars and I'm trying to get him to re-realize his love for them...lol First time doing this type of cake - the stand alone took me many hours of planning and contructing over the past few weeks. The neck of the guitar is wood, covered with foil and fondant and there is a wood base to the guitar head which has about 10 little wooden dowels glued into it for support. The base of the stand has a notch where the guitar head sits in, and the two wooden pieces are together with four dowels between both pieces - interlocking. The cake is the head of the guitar and is covered with fondant and fondant details. This is one cake I completely wish I had an airbrush system - I used the Wilton spray do the detail on the head - the red worked okay, but the black was useless and just wet the cake. I ended up having to paint the sides black. The string is elastic silver thread. Many people at the party were standing right beside the cake wondering where the cake was - mistaking it for a real guitar. A good sign I think!!

Wooden Train
One of my best customers had a little train, probably five inches in length total, made out of wood that she got when she was very small. She wanted a birthday cake of the train since she always orders cakes for her family and never has one for herself! The hill is the cake; the train is RKT covered in fondant. The hooks are thick aluminum. The board the train is on is 22" x 23" just to give you a scale. The second picture is that of her real little train. TFL!

Mickey Mouse Cupcakes
A customer sent me a picture of Kelly @ Crafty Confections in Ireland's Mickey cupcakes. This was my attempt at them. I made a batch of IMBC icing (my first), but I didn't like the taste and it didn't seem too "fluffy" - I ended up using my regular vanilla bc for the domes. Even with the dome of icing, once I put the fondant on, they fell. Not overly impressed with the way they turned out (made 24 of them), but they were definitely a learning experience. VERY similar to decorating petit fours. Ew.

Hannah Montana Stage
Was asked to make a stage for a Hannah Montana doll - found one here on CC, but I think the stage part itself was an actual plastic setting. Did my best to do the fondant ruffling on the bottom, but can never get it right, or done before drying too much. Any helpful comments would be appreciated. TFL

Cora's 1St Anniversary (Edmonton)
I had the great opportunity to do Edmonton's first Cora's Breakfast and Lunch restaurant's 1st Anniversary cake for this past weekend! (Canadian franchise started in Quebec) The colored tiers are vanilla cake with vanilla icing covered in Satin Ice; the other three sections are styrofoam covered in Satin Ice. All fondant decorations hand molded, and letters and sun's cut with an exacto knife. I call this cake the biggest one of my "career" thus far. ; ) TFL!
