Valentines Day
Co-workers have been bugging me to bring a cake in, but work has been so hectic. Put this one together in just two hours, so my icing is not smooth. This is a 10" Chocolate Cake with Andes mint chocolate filling. To cut down on decorating time I pipped a simple border, and then used cinnamon jellies and fondant heart cut-outs to decorate.

Kwanzaa Cake
I was asked to make a cake for a Kwanzaa open house, so this is what I came up with. Originally, it was going to be more ornate, with afrocentric stencils, but I ran out of time. The 10" is four layers of classic white alternated with classic yellow, with rasberry preserve filling. The 8" is lemon cake with lemon curd filling. The 6" is carrot cake with thin layer of buttercream filling. I was trying to cater to the different tastes of the guests. This is my first time making a stacked cake.

Prep For Fondant Class Finale Cake
Decided to make a baby-themed cake for my finale, inspired by the baby boom at work. No training in fondant figures, but saw a cake and wanted to duplicate it. F unny story, though - my biological clock must be OUT OF CONTROL! Last night I dreamt that someone came in and kidnapped the fondant babies . . . geez, I need a life!!! Cake will be done next week, and I'll post pictures.
