Life Size Mahagony Accent Table Cake....

The top of the table is hummingbird cake, the base is lemon pound cake. The center pedastol is pvc pipe wrapped in chocolate clay with the fluted part carved into shape. Whole table is painted in a mahagony stain technique with food coloring. Toile painted ginger jar with edible pen, book and cat are carved RKT covered in gumpaste, gumpaste picture frame with edible image photo. Gumpaste flowers are peony, calla lilies, spray roses, and sweet peas accented with gumpaste variagated ivy. Gumpaste knitting, yarn, and knitting needles. Gumpaste china tea cup and saucer and spoon. "Tea" is chocolate colored color flow, tea bag is gumpaste with edible image. Cake board is fondant done to look like a hardwood floor. This was my entry in the Southern Garden Home and Goumet Expo "Cake Off" this past Saturday. I won first place and got to meet Duff Goldman. Now have an autographed apron and a picture with Duff for memories. Very awesome experience!

Life Size Clc Tool Bag...

cake of chocolate cake, measured 26 inches long, 13 inches wide and 11.5 inches high or life size. The bride took pics of her fiance's tool bag, hammer and tape measure and wanted them replicated exactly. The bottom 6" is dummy cake. Though this was fun and challenging ( especially getting in the creases in the canvas part of the cake ) it was so time consuming. I found the hardest part was placing the side pockets. Her pics had them open, but when I tried that the fondant just kept falling off the cake. The piggy bank was a private joke b/t the couple. He kept saying the cost of the wedding was breaking the piggy bank, so she had me make a broken piggy bank with the hammer placed next to it. All accent pieces are gumpaste. The piggy bank and tape measure are gumpaste covered styrofoam, $1 bill is of rice paper on gumpaste, then folded to look like a money wad spilled out of the bank.

Picnic basket and Master Gardeners book are hummingbird and chocolate cakes, picnic plate and the sandwich etc, orange, and butterflies are done in gumpaste. Clay pot is fondant covered RKT with wired gumpaste daisies and leaves. Board is fondant painted in navy and white gingham.

Elementary School .....

classroom represented by all the tools of the trade. Cake is an 12 x 18 inch double layer yellow cake iced in buttercream, and the book is the same flavor with fondant cover. Gumpaste crayons and crayon box, chalk board, glue bottle and spilled glue, and scissors. The crayon box and glue bottle detail is with edible images on rice paper. The apple is gumpaste covered rice krispie treat with a gumpaste leaf and stem.
