It's All Down Hill From Here!
40th birthday cake for my principal's wife. She's not upset about turning 40, but he still wanted something that took a little jab at her age. This was inspired by several cakes in the gallery. Thanks to all for the ideas! 10" round single layer and½ sports ball dark chocolate cake with strawberry filling. All BC except for "40" which is candy melts. I didn't realize until I looked at the picture that white candy melts aren't pure white. :-( As always, thanks for looking!

Mary Kate's First Communion
First Communion cake for a friend's daughter. They picked a rather non-traditional looking invitation and wanted the cake to match. This is what I came up with. 6" and 8" WASC with strawberry pastry filling. All BC except for fondant flowers and cross. Thanks for looking!

Miranda's Electric Topsy Turvy
My first TT!! All fondant; for my DD's kid party and she picked out everything about it. I keep telling her she has a future as my designer! :-) We got a lot of inspiration from here -- thanks to all. She was absolutely thrilled with the final product; and while I see its faults, I am pretty pleased too. Thanks also for the directions posted a few months back in one of the forums (I think from jkalman); they were wonderful and helped make this first TT way less scary than I thought it was going to be. TFL!

Springtime Birthday
11x15 orange cake with chocolate cream cheese filling and cream cheese icing; made for a coworker's birthday. She requested welcome spring" and left the rest of the design up to me. I've wanted to try brushed embroidery, so I gave it a go. I really enjoyed the technique, but I don't know that cream cheese bc was the best icing to work with. Thanks for looking!

40Th Birthday
11x15 WASC with raspberry filling and BC for a coworker's 40th birthday. Inspired by a cake by Cakery (thank you!). I had a tough time with my writing on this one; the BC didn't flow well even though I had thinned it, maybe not enough? Everyone loved it anyway! Thanks for looking! Feedback is always appreciated.

Knitting Basket For Mom
Coordinating cakes for my mom's birthday. The knitting basket cake is the all chocolate cake she wanted, and the other is french vanilla with strawberry filling that the rest of my family will eat. :-) Both are 6", all BC, real knitting needles. Thanks to crazy4sugar for the basketweave inspiration. I viewed a lot of ball of yarn cakes here too in order to get the yarn to look good -- thanks to all! As always, thanks for looking!

Leopard Purse
This cake for my sister arose out of my inability to make a decision! :-) I was going to make her a leopard printed cake with a bow inspired by CakesbyAllison. But, then I was really inspired by all the wonderful purse cakes in the galleries here. So, I combined the two and she gets a leopard purse! :-) Since it is my first purse, I went with a simple shape. I can't wait until she sees it tonight! Thanks for all the inspiration and as always, thanks for looking!

Christmas Ornaments 2007
I've been dying to try these! WASC cupcakes and 1/2 mini-ball covered in fondant and decorated with bc. I started with red, green, blue, purple, and ivory colored fondant and then brushed with silver, gold, champagne, or super pearl luster dust. These are going to be the placecards at my dinner table for Christmas. Thank you to all cc'ers that have done and posted these; you've provided great inspiration! I had fun making these. Thanks for looking! Constructive criticism is always welcome.

Poinsettias & Lace
Something Christmas-y was requested for a coworker's birthday. First time I've made poinsettias...overall, I think they turned out pretty well. I wasn't thrilled with my cornelli lace on this cake though; I don't think I'd use as big a tip again, but the customer loved it. Red velvet cake with peppermint mocha bc. Thanks for looking!

Pop Star
Combo birthday cake for my daughter (5) and niece (12). It was interesting to get them to agree on a design. My dd really wanted Hannah Montana, and while my niece didn't, she agreed to a pop star design. Hannah & guitar are rice paper images I ordered. Fondant covered with fondant accents except for music notes which are bc. Star cake was dry-brushed with silver luster dust. This cake was tons of fun to make and my dd loves it! Cant wait till my niece sees it later! TFL!

Dump Truck Cake
I made this for my nephew's 1st birthday. Bottom is 9x13 and truck is carved from another 9x13 (a first for me). All BC except for road (fondant), tires (fondant covered rice krispie treats), and dirt (crushed choc. graham crackers). Although the truck didn't come out as I pictured in my head, I'm pretty pleased and I had a lot of fun with this. Suggestions for carving and icing shaped cakes are more than welcome...I'm still new and could use all the advice I can get! :-) TFL!
