This was for a preschool graduation for my daughters class. The school colors are orange and black. The cake was white and chocolate alternating in layers with strawberry buttercream for filling.
For the girl scouts end of the year celebration. A sash with the badges that they emailed me. The badges were made out of fondant/GP and then I used edible markers to draw on the images. Diamond pattern on the side with some parts luster dusted in copper.
I saw these on CC and just thought they were cute so I wanted to make some up also. This is one picture of the 48 I made of these up. I baked the cake in the cups, cored out the center with an apple corer for the filling and topped with SMBC. Thanks to Kristi for all of her help.
My parents were poor and never had a real wedding or even a wedding cake. My SIL and I threw a 40th surprise anniversary party for them. This was their wedding cake/ anniversary cake I made. 6 - 9 - 12 inch tiers. All covered in BC then in lots of white and pink disco dust. It looks so glittery and pretty. Placed a ruby red satin ribbon for their anniversary color. The topper wasn't my idea but I use it anyways. It looked much prettier in person than in the photo. It was 2 glass heart with 2 swans forming another heart and it light up.
This was a birthday cake for my dad's 59th. He loves breakfast food and always cooks in his cast iron skillet. I put a little luster dust on it to represent his beloved skillets rust spots. 2 eggs, salt and pepper shakers with a cloth. The cake was butter-vanilla.
My first gumpaste flowers. I took a class with Nicholas Lodge to learn them. This was before they were luster dusted.
This is a fake cake that I worked on in a cake class. The theme was for a black and white wedding. This was just a picture of one of the sides. I did a different design on each side so I could learn different things.

My friends surprise 30th b-day cake. It was a deep chocolate cake with ganache and fresh raspberries for the filling, covered in ganache then lined with chocolate dipped Pirouline hazelnut cookie sticks, topped with 3# of dipped strawberries with 2 dozen oreo truffles. I always wanted to make one of these cakes since I just love the ones on CC like it.
This is my DH's 2nd ever decorated cake. He's not too happy with how it turned out though.
This is my DH's very first ever cake.. He made it for our daughters birthday. I only made the cake and filled with BC. He doweled it, carved and did everything else. It's covered in fondant with gumpaste pieces.
Side view of baby blocks. The couple didn't know if they were having a boy/girl so that's why I wrote it on the sides. The other sides have hearts and stars on them. Not happy with this cake, I was too tired to work properly on it.
This is a 1 year birthday cake for an upscale shoe store. Their business colors are pink/brown/white and they wanted those colors used. This is a fake cake and the first time I've ever decorated one. I caught the middle tier that I dropped before assembling. So you'll see the patch job there.
Why does buttercream love me one second and hate me the next? Should I just cheat with fondant and call it a day? i'm so conflicted These sloppy buttercream corners are just screaming out at me to leave and run to fondant! I'm so confused right now.
2 of the 3 satellite cakes I did The white one is a scratch carrot cake with cream cheese icing. the 12x18 is a white almond sour cream cake with buttercream and vanilla waffer crumbs. All the shells are chocolate and luster dusted. The slab cake says "Terry and Shelly" on it that I wrote in the crumbs with my covered finger to make it look like it was wrote on sand. ignore the clutter please, for some reason my DH takes photos at the worst possable time.
This is my first wedding cake. Bottom tier is a 12in chocolate, middle is 8in cinnamon and topper is 4in white almond sour cream. All in buttercream dream icing and the sand is vanilla waffer crumbs.
