Once In A Blue Moon
... was the theme for this wedding between two middle-agers who finally found true love and their 'soul mate.' All the guests were required to wear blue, the bride and her maid of honor wore circlets of blue hydrangeas in their hair, and the bride and groom both wore blue jeans. The flowers are silk. Thank goodness that's what the bride requested. With our horrible heat/humidity right now, I doubt the real flowers would have made it through the ceremony

Stack Of Books
For a "once in a blue moon" themed wedding for a middle-aged couple. The groom is an avid reader, has stacks and stacks of books around his house, so the bride knew that this would have to be his groom's cake. He chose the titles for all the books. Lemon poppyseed iced with buttercream, covered with MMF

St. Patrick's Day Engagement Party
Mother of the groom wanted a "sophisticated" engagement cake with a St. Patrick's Day theme, since the party was last night. While I think it's a bit of a challenge to make St. Paddy's day "sophisticated", this is what I came up with ;-) WASC cake with buttercream, covered in fondant. Purchased ribbon at the base of each tier.

My Version Of Miss M&m
Made for a good friend who is an M&M freak and a chocoholic. Her birthday was this week, so I used spring/Easter colors. I used half a ball pan for her body, and cut up an 8" square to form the chair. She has this picture as the wallpaper on her computer at work -- no one believes it's a cake.

Daughter's Bridal Shower Cake
Many thanks to all of you who've paved the way with this idea ... the cake was baked in a Pampered Chef batter bowl, the doll pick had its head and arms ripped off, the nubs cut off, and covered with black fondant. This is a fairly close replica of daughter's gown. Sugar sparkles applied with light corn syrup.

Fisherman Groom
Made for a couple who met on a fishing trip, and still love to go fishing together. Chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream, gumpaste fish hand-painted with food colors, a $1.00 basket from Michaels that I stained with food colors, and a pennant flag with the words requested by the bride.

"mary Frances" Purse Cake
Made for a woman who loves Mary Frances purses. I had no idea what those were 'til I did an internet search. This is my interpretation of a cross between a MF purse, and an MF pillow called "Bed of Roses." Chocolate cake and icing, black fondant covering the cake, and all fondant details, painted with copper, pink or green luster dust. I loved making this cake.

18 Year Old Male
The mom wanted a cake featuring all the things her son wants most ... money (the gold coins), a credit card, a car, license, and a winning lottery ticket. I googled all the images, printed them out on photo paper, then used the boy's initials and his age as his license plate number for his hot new car. The boy definitely wanted some bling. And he LOVED the cake.
