90Th Birthday
This cake is for a 90-year-old lady who still lives on her own, fixes herself a meal every night, and works in her garden every day. Customer just said "she is a lovely lady in every way -- make a cake to reflect that." I hope this is worthy of her life celebration. Chocolate cake, almond buttercream icing, ivory fondant, fondant flowers, pearls, etc. An 8" and 6" stacked.

30Th Birthday/euchre Party
Ordered by my SIL as a surprise for her DIL. They're hosting a Euchre party for her b'day. (Euchre is a card game that seems to be unknown outside Michigan ;-) I have to ship this from TX, so it's a tiny 6" square cake, with fondant tablecloth, gumpaste chips, bowl, glasses and pizza. I printed out the cards onto glossy sticker paper, and just stuck them on the tablecloth. Tried to do it with feminine colors. Hope it survives its journey!

Barnyard Birthday Party
The parents own a graphic design firm, and designed their own darling custom birthday invitations. They asked if I could transform the 2-D invitation into a 3-D cake. Half chocolate, half white, iced in buttercream, all fondant decorations. Barn and silo are fondant-covered rice krispie treats. It was a blast to make, but I didn't start it until midnight last night. Pulled an all-nighter save for a 3-5 am nap. I'm too OLD to be pulling such stunts! Haven't been worth a pip all day.

New Sheriff In Town
This is the back side of the cake (for 50). Love that 'new sheriff' baby shower theme (maybe 'cause I'm in Texas ;-) Anyway ... a 12, 9, 6 inch chocolate cake with buttercream, covered and accented in all fondant. Gumpaste sheriff badge. Everything painted with silver luster dust dissolved in tequila. Hey! It's Texas!

Yet Another Baseball Cake
For a 4-year-old boy. Vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream. Bases, bats, balls and on-deck circles are fondant. Hot dog, soda, glove and popcorn are Wilton candles. Dirt is crushed gingersnaps. Flags in the outfield are printed out via PrintShop and taped to straws. A 2-layer 10" square cake.

Hats Off To You!
A cake made for a Ladies' Altar Guild Fall Luncheon. I used the napkin colors and the hat theme to come up with this "dessert" for the luncheon. All ladies in attendance were required to wear a festive hat ;-) This was a 10" round topped with a half ball pan 'crown'. All fondant. The ladies provided the cake stand.

Groom's Cake
The bride ordered this as a surprise for her groom. All she said was, she wanted chocolate fudge cake with mocha icing, and he's a rabid UT fan (their color is burnt orange), and loves to garden. So I did this two-layer 9" hex with mocha buttercream, a burnt orange fondant 'rope' around the bottom, and a sunflower on top. It's August. It's Texas. And he's a gardener. What better than a sunflower?

Hexagonal Wedding Cake
This was made for a small (20 people), in-home wedding. The bride is wearing a white two-piece wedding suit with covered buttons down the front of the top -- thus the fondant 'buttons. The groom wanted a "pale pink rose on top with pale green stem, and our names on either side of the stem." Names wouldn't fit, so I improvised. A 9" 2-layer bottom tier with a 6" two-layer top for them to freeze. White Sour Cream almond with strawberry filling, iced in buttercream, all decorations fondant.

5Th Year Anniversary
Youngest daughter was asked to babysit for a couple so they could go out to dinner on their 5th wedding anniversary. DD thought it would be fun for mom to make them a pretty cake to help celebrate, and I thought so, too. This is a 6" hex, two layer, White Almond Sour Cream, iced in BC, covered/decorated with fondant. Five roses on the top to symbolize their 5 years. Luster-dusted with champagne, gold and pearl.

Slug Bug - Another View
Oh and -- I couldn't find my grass tip, so Tony's car has little tiny bushes growing around it, instead. He didn't seem to mind. Said it was the first time EVER in his life that anyone has baked him a birthday cake. And he's 48. Imagine that. Anyway -- he was totally thrilled with it.

Foods 2
I made this cake to celebrate the completion of DD's capstone class as she earns her BS in Hotel/Restaurant Management. The students ran a full-service restaurant all by themselves, twice/week for six weeks. I crafted the tools of their trade out of fondant. Clogs, chef coat, hat and pants, apron, saute pan, knife, check for a meal for 6, and a thank you to the professor on the blackboard. Chocolate cake with buttercream, covered with chocolate MMF.

Ballerina Birthday
This was for a 9-year-old girly-girl ballet dancer. It's not my favorite cake, I can see many flaws, but the grandmother (who ordered it) called today and told me the birthday girl squealed and screamed and jumped up and down when she saw it! She has saved the ballet shoes from the top (that's supposed to be a little stage they're pirouetting on -- with the curtain pulled back and her name 'in lights'). She has also saved the ballet shoes, the pearls holding back the curtains and the roses, as keepsakes.

My First Topsy-Turvy
Yikes! I cut all the circles out of two 9x13's, since this was just a practice cake. What a pain! And I used an enhanced white cake mix, which turned out crumbly as heck and a pain to crumbcoat. And I'm not happy with the angle of the top layer. But other than that -- what a blast! This was a whole lot of fun, and I learned a ton about what-not-to-do. Stayed up 'til 2:30 working on it. Woke up at 6:30 to finish it. Yes, I'm addicted. All fondant over buttercream.
