I made these for the shower my mother threw for me/baby. I have had to cancel all of my cakes 'for hire' this summer due to pregnancy issues, so it was fun to finally get to do one, even if for myself.

Pretty much straight from Wilton book. I was asked to recreate this cake for an event to honor the chairperson's brithday. We did 6" cakes, which I do no think allowed enough surface to avoid some tipping despite internal supportt.s They were thrilled with it and the taste, though, so that's all that mattered! "Strawberry shortcake" - butter cake with Strawberry BC filling, BC icing with fondant accents.
A pretty quick cake for the teachers at preschool. I have eanted to do stripes for a long time and took the opportunity, since they are all female. Huge hit and tasted great, too - so they tell me anyway :). Turtle cake - one layer butter almond cake, caramel BC filling, one layer dark chocolate cake. BC icing and flowers.

Unfortunately on the 3 hr drive, the top bounced on a pothole requiring pretty major repair, but they loved it anyway. Buttercream with fondant accents painted with lustre dust. Dark chocolate cake with choc ganache filling on bottom; white chocolate cake with choc ganache filling on top.
Dark Chocolate cake with ganache filling, chocolate syrup frosting and Dark Chocolate fondant tiles painted with pearl dust colored with orange (for the season!). The top has more ganache and was painted, too. Thanks to NEWTODECORATING for the chocolate on chocolate tile concept!
A request for a cake with cauliflower, so I played on it. Diabetic (fat and sugar free) spice cake and icing underneath fondant. Looks beautiful now, I am thrilled, but the icing is eating the fondant, so I it will not hold up unfortunately. Inspiration by kgunn and rainamehta MUCH appreciated!!!
Not at all what I wanted, but had less than 2 hours...carrot cake combo birthday cake for 39 yo (hence the brew 101) and grandpa's 91st (who does nothing but read books and watch golf). The round thing on the top was actually dimpled looked like a golf ball. Although not thrilled with the cake, the picture is much worse than real life. Thanks for looking! Learned a lot on this one; not sure when I'll try it again. Comments/suggestions would be most appreciated.
This is the year of 40th birthdays and we celebrated another with a good friend last night. 6" triple chocolate cake with Bailey's cream filling. 36 fondant candles, and 4 real were added at the restaurant. Had planned to do a Red Sox theme, but my husband cautioned me due to their poor season, so just picked up on the red, white and blue.
Cookies n Cream Cake with BC and Satin Ice Dark Chocolate fondant stripes, dots, roses and leaves. Looking forward to trying it - first time with the cake 'recipe', BC with hi ratio shortening, ribbon roses, and Satin Ice fondant...have to wait at least one day!

Just a quick 6" cake for a simple celebration. Butter cake with BC raspberry filling. Royal flowers, BC, and fondant pearls. Must get and impression mat - freehand is hard to get lined up!!!
Another cake that got the short end of the stick due to house renovations colliding with commitments. Lower tier was butter almond cake, top white chocolate cake, both with dark chocolate ganache filling (WC was AMAZINGLY YUMMY!). BC with royal flowers and fondant ribbon.
Bad timing for this poor cake - my kitchen was torn out the week it was due; kind of limited decorating time. Cinnamon swirl cake with caramel filling (YUM!), BC with fondant brim and bow.
A surprise for the bride & groom....for their picnic rehearsal dinner with red & white checkered tablecloths; left the design up to me so I played off the red & white. Triple chocolate cake and marble layers with black cherry BC filling. BC with royal icing dots and hearts, fondant ribbon and hearts on wire painted with white pearl dust. Traveled 2 hours in horrible humidity, so the 'cloud' under the hearts on top fell, and then was assembled by my friend. They loved it despite minor imperfections!
