Grooms Cake
This was my first grooms cake. Chocolate, chocolate buttercream. My first cornelli lace. In retrospect I should have kept the top layer a single layer torted rather than 2 layers so it didn't seem so top heavy. The gal I did this for knows I'm just learning...but I just wanted the wedding and grooms cake to be perfect for her special day. I wasn't happy with either. Could anyone give me suggestions?

My First Wedding Cake
all white cake with raspberry filling, buttercream, fondant. I used the dowel system for the first time (as opposed to the hidden pillars) I wasn't happy with this cake at all. It didn't seem crisp and clean. How do you get fondant to not wrinkle all over a round cake???? Please give me some suggestions on how this could have looked better.

King Henry's 1St Birthday Cake
chocolate choc.chip cake (pillow), white cake with raspberry and cream cheese filling in crown. Gumpaste and fondant. Thank you for the inspiration to the person who did this one...I had a hard time with the gumpaste crown...and it isn't as "neat" as I'd like it. It was my first attempt at a pillow, thanks to the person who donated the instructions. I couldn't find any "jewels" to stick in the crown...overall, I guess I'm okay...I welcome any suggestions!!!!

Any Occassion Cake
Scratch yellow cake, each tier torted. Bottom layer vanilla moistening syrup, chocolate ganache. Top layer vanilla moistening syrup, raspberry buttercream. Chocolate buttercream, fondant accents. Everything was fine till I started frosting and it just went flop! The icing wouldn't smooth, then it would crack!!! The fondant was drying out so quickly! My friend planned a small baby roses bundle to go on top. Hopefully that will distract from all the errors. I was just off the game today! Any ideas?

Butterflies
This is chocolate with cherries, and white cake with almond and raspberries...fondant covered...purchased butterflies. From that amazing gal on this site...i'll find the name and give her proper credit..though mine doesn't do her design justice. For my neighbors retirement party...a big gardener and butterfly fan! I wish i could have done better with the fondant...but this is my second attempt..so i guess i'm pretty happy with it

Any Occassion Cake
Scratch chocolate cake, chocolate ganache filling, 7 minute frosting. I love the way this frosting smoothes on...but is really not user friendly for making decorations, it just pulls too much....probably would need to switch to buttercream for that....or just use fondant/gumpaste decorations...has a nice, not so sweet flavor.

marble cake, buttercream frosting. Can anyone tell me if humidity plays a role in frosting success? This one...it just wouldn't smooth...didn't seem right from the mixer...i've made it a ton of times and don't know why this turned out different, except that it was very humid today...please give any suggestions...this was a bear! Glad it's done. Seemed like such a simple idea.

Bakehouse Zoo Cake
Heres the WB book Zoo Cake. Scratch chocolate with cookies n cream, scratch butter with raspberry. Buttercream (neon color blending) icing with chocolate accents. This one was so much fun...even though it took me all day (it was short notice), and the kitchen is destroyed, i was sad to say i just couldn't do anymore to it! I'll definately do this one again...Its' actually for a friend of my friends who just became a first time grandma...the nursery is a zoo theme, could be used for lots of things

Adaptation Of The Whimsical Bakehouse Cake...not Topsy Turvy (Not Brave Yet!) (Soon!)
This is the cake that gave me so much grief. But the fine folks here at CC saw me through this project (into the wee hours i might add) Thanks from my heart! My SIL was very pleased. The middle tier says "have a beautiful life baby henry", this was for his dedication ceremony. Top tier, scratch freckled mocha cake with baileys irish cream mousse, middle tier scratch chocolate butter cake with cookies and cream filling, and bottom golden butter cake with raspberry amaretto buttercream.

Thank You Cake For Swimming Instructor
Scratch chocolate cake, raspberry filling, and buttercream icing. The water is tinted piping gel. I made for my daughter's swim teacher. I've never made fondant people before and instead of the bathing suits looking like suits, they look more like life jackets! But i thought it was hilarious! So I kept it! I borrowed the idea from someone here on the site (thank you thank you). It isn't really hard, just doing things on such a small scale is tedious. The purple and white are the school's colors

This is actually a baptism cake....my first...my first roses. I tried using the glitter dust...but the lighting in the kitchen shows the places where the brush touched. My friend was happy with it...but i don't think that she'd say anything bad. Would love some honest critiquing from you guys! Thanks for looking!

Buttercream Baby Shower Cake
This was my second decorated cake. I copied one i saw on this site (thank you thank you!) I was really nervous about it (quite a few mistakes) but the guest of honor was very gracious and appreciative...I need some help with that whole "heating core" thing....or maybe i just needed more frosting to cover it...I would really appreciate any suggestions on anything at all!!! Thanks for looking!
