Black And White Poppy Wedding Cake
I designed this cake to match the plates I found at Pier 1. I used a tumbler and a wine glass from the set to hold up the two smaller tiers. The curtains in the background came from Target, what a coincidence! This was a display cake for a wedding show. I made the poppies out of gumpaste with black stamens. I was really pleased with the result and it was fun to do.

Birthday Barbie Cake
I did this cake as a joke for a gal I work with. She never had a Barbie growing up, so I thought she should have one for her 52nd birthday. I can't wait to see how she likes it. I found a Birthday Barbie and tried to match the cake to the dress she came with. Tulle is a little hard to replicate in buttercream! The bodice is done in MMF with sugar sparkles. The rest is buttercream.

Popcorn Box On Film Reel
This was one of those cakes! You know, the one you have pictured in your head but just can't seem to pull off. Popcorn box is a chocolate transfer over rice krispy treats. My original idea of doing it with cake fell through, well fell. Film reel made of cake with fondant. This was for a birthday party with a "Dinner and a movie" theme.

Keystone With Can
This is the can of beer I had to buy to make this cake. I used the actual can to trace the logo. Note to self, wait for beer to come to room temperature before tracing. Then my scanner wouldn't work for me to enlarge what I had traced, so I just used it as is. Consequently, the proportions are a bit off. All buttercream, hand painted. Buttercream piping. Lots of work. I wish it weren't crooked on the board. And the frosting could have been a bit smoother. Oh well, next time!

Baby Shower For A Girl
A baby shower cake I did for a friend. I got to try some things I hadn't done before. And naturally, learned some things not to do! The board is covered in MMF Fondant with polka dots cut out and filled in with a contrasting circle. That was fun to do. I also did it with the butterfly wings. I need practice on butterfly bodies, though. Iced in buttercream with MMF accents.

Mosaic Wedding Cake
There I go again, taking crooked pictures! The bottom two layers of this cake are styrofoam as the reception was two hours away and the bride's MIL was taking the cake. I didn't think that was a good idea in the heat of the summer. The top was real. The mosaic tiles were marshmallow fondant brushed with super pearl dust. It was my first time making gumpaste orchids. I really enjoyed doing them. Thanks for looking.

Buttercream Topsy Turvy
The bride wanted an understated slant to her cake. But she did want the wild decorations. Iced in buttercream. All handmade flowers and monogram. Marshmallow fondant accents. My first time doing a monogram and a topsy turvy. Everything was edible on this cake. I live in a very conservative area, this cake caused quite a stir at the reception. It was quite a challenge. I admire all of you that pull these off so well.

Cowboy Hat Grooms Cake
Thanks so much to cakemaker for sending me instructions! I had fun making it and hope to make an other one soon. I had lots of mistakes to learn from. This is the first time I have ever carved a cake and amazingly I enjoyed it a great deal. Now if I could just get that fondant figured out!
