Chocolate Mosaic Square Wedding Cake
My daughter and I did this cake in Pismo Beach for her boyfriend's brother. The bride chose chocolate cake with strawberry filling. It's covered with chocolate Pastry Pride* and then broken pieces of dark and milk chocolate. My daughter then placed the chocolate-dipped strawberries down the edge after we arrived. *whip one quart carton of Pastry Pride with 1/2 can of Hershey's chocolate syrup

Whimsical Chocolate Cake Ii
Here's the cake with the candles. I was running out of time to get the cake ready before the party started, so I ended up getting two number 2 candles and dipping them in melted chocolate. Before the chocolate set, I place edible pearls on the numbers. I took long, straight candles I found at the grocery store, warmed them under warm running water, and twisted them. I had to use some of the melted chocolate under the numbers for them to stay standing. It looked okay. I liked the look sans candles....

Purple And Lavender Fondant Wedding Cake
Did this yesterday for some friends. The flowers are a couple of shades of purple--in the photo they almost look blue. The gumpaste flowers I tried to make just weren't working out for me, so I ordered these from "Cakes by Sam," painted them, and added luster dust. You can't tell in this photo, but the tiers were offset to the back (the side view looked like steps)! Oh, and thanks for the help on my forum question about securing the figurine to the top--I used royal icing and had dowels underneath.

Hexagon Wedding Cake With Fresh Flowers
Did this awhile ago--slowly trying to scan previous cake pictures to get my gallery all up-to-date. This cake is a yellow pound, each layer brushed with grand marnier simple syrup then filled with white chocolate buttercream and fresh raspberries. The cake is then covered with white chocolate buttercream and white chocolate "panels" detailed with white royal icing.

Baseball Cake With Bat
White cake filled with fresh strawberries. Covered with Pastry Pride--perfect with fresh strawberries! Buttercream and piping gel writing. The bat is rolled fondant; I put a large dowel rod through the center for stability. Baseballs are hemispheres of rolled fondant, painted with edible markers. The party hostess had a team picture to prop up on the cake.

High School Graduation Cake
This is a yellow cake with strawberry filling, covered with Pastry Pride, buttercream writing and RI flowers. The base of the cap is cake covered with rolled fondant. The top board of the cap is cardboard covered with rolled fondant. I used a PlayDoh "machine" to push the fondant to make the cord and tassel. Thanks go to the many members for their grad cap ideas. You are all an inspiration!

Palm Tree Cupcake Tower For Promotion Dance
This was for an 8th grade promotion dance with an "Island Paradise" theme. We needed 300 cupcakes, so I decorated 4 cupcake cakes (in my photo gallery) and put the rest on the cupcake tower. The tower is actually the tall tier wedding cake stand converted with brown paper, green fun foam, and hot glue.

Fondant Draped Round Wedding Cake
This is a pound cake with strawberry filling and Choco-pan wedding white fondant--although it looked more like ivory to me. The drape was made to match the bride's dress--every other fold was brushed with luster dust. I actually attended this wedding and ended up cutting the cake. It was very enlightening seeing the innards--made me realize just how important dowels really are. I definitely need to dowel more!!

"steel Magnolias" Play Cast Party Cake
I did this cake two days ago for a play cast party. The hostess wanted magnolias since the play was called, "Steel Magnolias." I had to push the gumpaste, so I wasn't extremely pleased with the magnolias' look. The hostess seemed happy, though. I tried to do the writing like the play's logo--block letters then cursive at an angle. After doing the confirmation cake with the large star tip on the sides, I've been doing more of that. Kind of a different look. Easy, too.

School Wrestling Party Cake
Since much of school wrestling consists of tournaments, I used 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place boxes for the cake stands. All 3 cakes are 12" covered with Pastry Pride. The writing and the school mascot, a mustang, is buttercream (the school logo is zig zagged like that). The singlet (wrestling uniform) is colored rolled fondant.

Treasure Chest Friendship Luncheon Cake
My neighbor throws wonderful parties. This cake was for her annual springtime "let's celebrate friendship" luncheon. Her theme this year was the treasure of friendship. She had treasure box centerpieces, plus so much more! The cake is covered with Pastry Pride. The treasure chest is a pound cake (loaf pan) covered with rolled fondant. I sliced the cake after covering it, added the detail, then slipped foil-covered chocolate coins under the lid. The writing and flowers are buttercream.

Ivory Rolled Fondant And Black Satin Bow Wedding Cake
The title pretty much says it all. The "monogram" on top is black color flow. The bows are real satin ribbon I made ahead of time. This rolled fondant cake was the least difficult so far. I had a plastic company make rolled fondant rings on which to roll out the fondant. It made transferring the fondant over the cake much easier!!!

End Of Soccer Season Party
This is an 11x15 double-layered yellow cake with strawberry filling. The soccer ball is a pound cake covered with black and white rolled fondant. The jersey is also colored rolled fondant with buttercream detailing. The grass is green buttercream. The "body" of the cake is decorated with Pastry Pride. Thanks go to the wonderful cakes on this website for the great ideas!! You can see my idea is not original.
