Luau Birthday Cake
Most of you know this doesn't require a lot of detail work, but it was too much fun not to post! The grass is green apple Twizzlers Pull Aparts. The flowers are silk. The bamboo is Pepperidge Farms Pirouettes. It's the Floating Tiers stand, and I wrapped a silk lei around the upright post. Carrot cake with cream cheese buttercream filling and covered with Pastry Pride.

Fishing Groom's Cake For Our Son
Besides their wedding cake, I made a groom's cake for our son and daughter-in-law. He created a fishing monster out of her, so this seemed like a fun, appropriate cake for them. The bobbers are made with candy melts, using a half-sphere silicon mold. Fondant and gumpaste accents. Candy pebbles from the candy store. So much fun making this one!

Sushi Table Cake
Engagement party cake. Son proposed where they had their first date--sushi! :) The cake is carrot cake with cream cheese buttercream filling and frosting then covered with fondant. It was my feeble attempt at recreating a cake from pinkcakebox.com--thank you Pink Cake Box for the idea; although your cake is MUCH MUCH better!

Birch-Look Round Wedding Cake
Birch-look wedding cake. [Incorporated different aspects from the many tree-like cakes found on this site--as well as general internet searches. Thank you all for leading the way ahead of me!] Cakes are covered in buttercream then fondant. Flowers and leaves are a mix of gumpaste and fondant. Owl bride and groom toppers are fondant.

Silhouette Wedding Cake
Bride wanted to do silhouettes of their "story." Wanted the cake out all night so the guests could see it. Therefore, this was made with 5" tall styrofoam squares, and I cut out some of the back, bottom layer in which to place real cake for the "cutting." Sheetcakes were in the kitchen for serving the guests. Wish I knew to whom to give the credit for the design. The bride handed me a photo with similar details but on a round, 4-tiered cake.

Katie's Wedding Cake
Bride wanted me to "copy" a cake she found on swankcakedesign.com. I wasn't confident about piping the scroll work, so I used my clay gun to make thin fondant ropes, made various designs, and let them sit overnight--hardened slightly to hold shape, yet still pliable to adhere with water.

Country Lacey Wedding Cake
Thankfully this cake held up considering the hot, non-air-conditioned barn and slanted log slice (had to put shims under the cake). AND it's covered in Choco-Pan--white chocolate fondant is already soft in the best of conditions! Anyway, this cake was for my brother-in-law. Bottom and top tiers are chocolate with raspberry. Middle is white with apricot. Overall covered with buttercream (1/2 high ratio shortening, half butter). Brush embroidery with royal icing.

Water Polo End Of Season Party
Finally adding this photo. High school water polo team end of season party. Fun but crazy to do. Bottom covered with Pastry Pride then I used black buttercream for the cage net. Hand is gumpaste. I usually use RKT for the ball, but this time I used a styrofoam sphere and covered it with plastic wrap then icing then fondant. Gumpaste waves and splashes.

Vow Renewal Anniversary Cake
Did this for some friends of ours renewing their vows. Their daughter painted the roses with yellow petal dust. (ordered roses from Global Sugar Art) I also had her do the border. (tried to have her do the ferns; didn't work once she had to practice on a vertical surface) The idea comes from a photo the "bride" handed me. I searched all over for its origin to no avail. If anyone recognizes this, please let me know so I can give credit where credit is due! It's kind of a funny angle--throws the layers out of proportion--but you can get the idea....

Purple Fondant Wedding Cake With Edible Pearls
Bottom tier chocolate with raspberry filling. Middle tier vanilla with strawberry filling. Top tier marble with strawberry filling. All covered with buttercream then choco-pan fondant. Unfortunately, the bride did not want flowers on the cake. Fortunately, I did not have questionable areas of the cake needing flowers to cover up. Too bad, though--flowers would have made this cake "pop" for the special day....

Square Fondant And Roses Wedding Cake--My Son's!
Did this for our oldest son--the first of our seven kids to get married! It was an interesting project. Since the rehearsal and dinner were on a Thursday and family was arriving on Friday (Saturday wedding), I actually put it together on Wednesday! It stayed in our son's room--the coolest in the house! Tasted great! Stayed moist! It's devil's food with chocolate buttercream and raspberry filling, covered with white buttercream then choco-pan wedding white fondant. The swags were gumpaste, using a clay gun. I painted the swags and pearls with luster dust. The flowers were a huge challenge! There are 6 dozen roses in there!

Stacked Cornelli Lace Wedding Cake
Did this for a relative who was giving the cake to the bride as a gift. I put it together 3 weeks after 9 days (2 surgeries) in the hospital. Took longer than usual. Very tiring! They placed flowers on the top tier after it was delivered. I was sent photos, but I cannot upload the type of file the picture is in. Covered in buttercream then fondant. Royal icing cornelli lace.

Round Fall Stacked Wedding Cheesecake
Well, this was interesting. The bride and groom don't like cake. Therefore, they decided to serve Costco apple pie and cheesecake. The groom's mom asked me if I could make Costco cheesecake look like a wedding cake. I had to stack 2 layers together to get enough height. I trimmed one set smaller to get the right look. It's covered with Pastry Pride--vertical "stripes" are a very large star tip pulled straight up. Top border is swirls with a #32.
