5Th Wedding Anniversary "the Wood Year"
This cake was a lot of fun to do. The couple was celebrating their 5th wedding anniversary, which is the wooden year. So, the wife decided the cake should look like the gag gift that she gave to her husband, which was an actual piece of wood. I covered the cake in chocolate fondant, and used food coloring to create the darker areas. The ladybugs and flowers are also fondant. The grass was royal icing.

My Mom's Retirement Party Cake
I made this cake for my mom who was having a retirement/bon voage party. She moved to Florida and so I got some ideas from other CCers around palm trees and the like. It actually looked much better than this, but unfortunately the dumb men who carried the cake from the car to the venue, mishandled it, and it actually began to crack on the bottom layer:(. We had to turn it to the back and make some quick adjustments so the guest wouldn't notice. I knew I should have taken it in myself, lesson learned!

Baby Carousel Cake
I made this cake for my 1 year old on the same day I made the stacked princess pillow cake for my older daughter ( a double birthday party). It didn't turn out nearly as well as I thought I would, probably because I had been awake baking, cooking, cleaning and decorating the cakes for 22 hours. The horses are made from gumpaste, the cakes are covered in fondant.

Red Power Ranger Cake
I made this cake for a boy who loves power rangers. I got the idea from this site, and bought a styrofoam head from the local beauty supply store. The CCers on this site made it look so easy, boy was I wrong. This was my first time working with styrofoam. I have a lot to learn.

Sesame Street First Birthday Cake
I covered this cake with Satin Ice fondant. All accents and characters including light post are edible. This was my first "biggie", complete with a personalized cake base, which I think made all the difference. I was pretty pleased with the way it came out. I had a little left over batter so I threw in a smash cake for the baby.

Hip Hop "old Skool " Platinum Birthday Cake
I covered this cake with black Satin Ice fondant. The chain and charm was made with white fondant and silver dragees, then painted with nu silver luster dust and silver gliiter platinum dust. This was my first time using Satin Ice fondant and I was very pleased with it. It was a little more forgiving than MMF.

Tiffany Shower Cake
I got a request for a Tiffany Blue and Chocolate brown baby shower cake and this is what I came up with. I actually got the idea from Colette Peters Wedding Cakes " Chocolate Fantasia" cake. It didn't look much like a baby shower cake, but they wanted the theme to look like a sophisticated tea party. I think it came out well. The cake is covered in buttercream, with modeling chocolate accents.
