this is my first jewels cake. i didn't know what to do for the gems so i used jolly ranchers and shaved them with sandpaper, thanks to someone here for that tip. i don't recommend doing that because it was tedious and sticky. i would have made my own candy and used the jewel mold, but my mold came in too late, so i had to go with jolly ranchers. the pearls are edible pearls and some are mixed with flavoring and pearl dust.

this was a small wedding cake that served about 30 people. the top is vanilla with buttercream filling and the bottom is chocolate, the bride and grooms favorites. the roses are royal icing.
i loved doing this baby shower cake. it's buttercream with marshmallow fondant.
a friend was having a pool party for their son and wanted something to fit the theme. i saw something like this and loved it, but made a few changes.
the customer had a friend who was seperating from the military and who ate tootsie rolls all the time, so this is what she wanted on the cake. the boot and toosie roll are fondant and everything else is buttercream.

the customer sent me a picture of this cake and asked me if i could do it...i hesitated a while, but then said yes. she never told me that some of the pieces were plastic, which would have made it a lot easier for me. i had to do it all with icing. she didn't want to crown or flag or princesses, said she was changing it to be a my little pony cake. never again!! the flowers and hearts are royal icing the rest is buttercream. i used construction paper to make the cutout that went around the castle.
