I've heard someone used gum paste in with their fondant, to make it hold up better. How do i mix the gum paste with the fondant? Can I just use the Wilton gum paste mix, and add it to my fondant when I am making it? Or do i need to mix the gum paste separately and then add it to my already made fondant?

For cake covering, no, you'd generally not mix gum paste & fondant. No need to have a cake covering that firm. That said, if you have unusually soft fondant, adding some premade gum paste [or just a bit of tylose/cmc/gum tex/gum tragacanth] to it can be helpful.
A 50/50 mix, rollable gum paste kneaded together with rollable fondant, is often used for bows or other decos that need to set up firm.

From the way I read your ? you are wanting to make decorations/figures etc. That is when you use a 50/50 mix.
Just take equal parts of gum paste and fondant and knead them together well.
If you don't have ready made gum paste on hand yes, you can just add some dry Wilton gum paste powder into fondant. In that case, I never measured - just dipped my fondant into the powder and kneaded until it started to feel tight. I know, I'm lazy! :) I'm guessing I never used even as much as 1/4 teaspoon gum paste powder mixed into a fist sized ball fondant.
Thanks so much for your help! I'm living in Belize where humidity and heat are high(: so someone suggested using the gum paste mixed with fondant to cover the cake. I think I will try what kakeladi said and just dip my fondant into the dry Wilton gum paste powder and knead it...
What she ^ said!! I used to use the fondant/gum paste mix on accent pieces when I needed them on accent pieces, flowers, bows, etc but now I just use tylose. Never use the gumpaste/fondant mix to cover a cake, it will make it way too firm
ChiCakeLady75....what would you do? I'm in Belize no way to get Tylose that I know of and need the cake for Saturday! Any other options to keep fondant from sagging...etc....
