AHi everyone! I'm new here and I'm hoping someone can help me. I'm new to the cake decorating world and need help with a icing question. What is a good icing recipe to use for making roses and other flowers? And how would it be stored?
For roses, use a stiff buttercream to make them. It really depends on the flower otherwise. You can use royal icing, a stiff icing, or some flowers require gumpaste/fondant.
I have used Wilton's class b'cream in stiff consistency for years to make roses and other flowers. It's a good recipe. You can sub part butter or margarine for part of the Crisco and DO add more flavoring - up to 1 Tablespoon:)

This is it. It is the one I use as well. Except I double it and use half butter, half butter flavored Crisco. Skip the meringue powder. It isn't necessary if your fat to sugar ratio is right.

Oh yah, I forgot that little bit of info :) It is soooooo not necessary!
