Crusty Pound Cake

Debbie, a co-worker gave me a piece of this cake, I had to have the recipe.


Crusty Pound Cake


  • 1 stick butter, room temp.
  • 1 c Crisco

  • 3 c white sugar

  • 5 large eggs, room temp.

  • 3 c all purpose flour

  • pinch of salt

  • 1/4 t baking powder

  • 2 t vanilla

  • 1 c whole milk


  1. Preheat oven to 325* Combine butter, Crisco, and sugar. Mix until creamy. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Sift dry ingredients 3 times. Add to mixture alternately with milk beginning and ending with flour. Add vanilla. Pour into a greased and floured tube pan. Bake on the lower rack of the oven for 1 1/2 hours.

Can this recipe be used in a large 11 x 17 sheet cake? How many recipes would I need and how long to cook?
