this is one of my favorite apple cake. it has been in my family for years, and everyone still loves it.

Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 cups sugar
  • 1 cup cooking oil
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 4 apples, pared, sliced (as for pie)
  • 1/2 cups chopped nuts

Instructions

  1. Beat together sugar, oil, eggs with electric beater. Sift together flour, cinnamon, and baking soda, stir in by hand. add apples and nuts,. Bake in greased 9×13 inch pan at 350 degrees for a hour.

I make a similiar recipe (mine has a little more sugar and less oil.) I serve it warm with Dessert Sauce - 1 cup sugar 1/2 cup butter or margarine 1/2 cup evaporated milk 1 tsp. vanilla. Mix all ingredients together in saucepan. Bring to boil over medium high heat and cook for 3 minutes. Serve warm sauce over cake (decandent!!)
