No Cook Dark Fudge Icing

I discovered this recipe by accident! While making chocolate rolled buttercream, I noticed that before I finished adding all the sugar called for in the recipe, it looked like a rich, dark fudge icing. So I decided to try it, and it works beautifully. So easy, too, because there is not cooking!


  • 1 c. Crisco
  • 1 c. corn syrup
  • 1/2 tsp. fine-grain salt
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 3/4 – 1 c. cocoa
  • 8 drops butter flavor
  • 1 lb. powdered sugar
  • 2-3 tbsp. water


  1. Cream first six ingredients together in Kitchen Aid mixer. Add sugar gradually, adding water 1 tablespoon at a time as needed until desired consistency. Beat smooth.
    Fills and frosts an 8″ round two-layer cake.

I used this this weekend. I put in under chocolate MMF. It worked really well and was delicious! It tastes like real fudge! Thanks for sharing it!!


I tried to use this for my son's birthday cake and will not make it again. It had WAY too much corn syrup in it. It slid right off my cake. I ended up scraping it off and making another batch with 3 Tbs. of corn syrup instead. The taste was good, but forget being able to pipe with it. We ended up using it kind of like fondue with the cake scraps.


Pardon my ignorance, but what is corn syrup? Anyone know what its called in South Africa? My shop assistant looked at me as though I was speaking greek. Ta
