The neck the other top thingy is supposed to be done to look like wood grain :) .... It's not perfect but I gave it a running shot!

Wow Christi, really amazing!!!! It looks perfect, really great job! And your hand writing is amazing! I'm sure he will LOVE it!

I would also like to know what you used for the strings. My daughter plays the banjo and this would be a great B-day cake for her.

Critique group member: Wow! This is great the details are fabulous, the only thing that bothers me is the "RT" on the bango it's looks kind of out of place to me.

Critique group member: excellent work on a sculpted cake! Your fondant looks fantastic. The only critique I have is that maybe the neck should be a little thinner. Once you start adding fondant everything can get very chubby :)

critique subgroup member: very nice job! I agree the proportions are a bit off, and like sylly said once adding fondant it enlarges items, (I had the same thing happen to me with my Harry Potter Broom) looked proportionate before adding fondant! but awesome job !!

critique subgroup member: The details on the "wood" part are great and the strings look so real. The gold on the banjo is a little uneven and I can see a seam, but overall it looks good. Your carving is excellent. I like the board and the writing. Well done.

Thank you Jadak, I just wanted to clarify...what you think is a seam in the gold detail is supposed to be there :) it's a piece of the model of the banjo :)

critique group member: Great work on your carving and the "wood grain" effect on the neck of the banjo is great. I will agree with the others about the fondant, it really can make stuff look "puffy", but for your 2nd time using fondant, you did a great job!!

Critique Subgroup Member: Great idea and executed nicely. Would work on the following items, push down any tails (i.e. letting) with a little powdered sugar on the finger and the smoothness of the fondant should be worked out more. Don't be afraid to push it around - LOL. I like the colors and your handwriting is fairly sweet but perhaps not for this particular cake.

critique subgroup member: great job! i love your handwriting and all the detail. the contact paper looks a little wonky on the cake board, but otherwise, it's a great cake!
