This Is My Sons 1St Birthday Cake And My 1St Fondant Cake I Had To Practice The Bow For Almost 4 Weeks
Fondant Bow Cake
Wow, you did a fantastic job...very pretty.
very nice, the stringwork is wonderful.
Really beautiful cake - nice work.
thanks everyone. The stringwork looks better in the photo -- the connection points are a little messy and the lengths are not that even, but hey, it's my first go at stringwork. I learned alot from this cake. Thanks for your support!
Very pretty! I like the idea of layering the drop strings like that. Okay, here's a tip for you....when at your starting point for the drop string, touch and then pull out while gently squeezing and let gravity pull the string down as you move your tip to the stopping point, then touch!! That will create perfect dropstrings every time. Just let gravity do the job for you and you be the judge of how "deep" you want your string to be!!! ;-D It looked like you used a #3 tube, try a #2!
thanks cakemommy! I did use tip #2, but I think my problem was that I felt as if I had to move quickly so that the string wouldn't break or get out of control (if you know what I mean). I tried to let gravity do its thing, but found myself moving my hand down with the string. Stringwork is not intuitive for me ... I need to practice. It was a fun try anyway.
Looks great to me! Very pretty.
Georgous cake. It looks so delicate, the stringwork is very nice and the beadwork is so uniform. Curly bow is a nice touch to such a beautiful cake
