The Monkey Cake
This cake is very important to me and will always live in my memory. It was the first cake I made after going full time. The little monkey and hat are from the invites a first birthday. I was delighted to finally have time to make the details of the monkey (they are made of gum paste) and the hat, etc.
Cute.... are the spirals on top fondant? How did you make them?

They are a 70-30 mix (gum paste-fondant) I rolled them in the pasta machine and then cut them and twisted them around a dowel. They slip right off to dry.
