Tow Mater 2

Tow Mater 2 on Cake Central

this was my 2nd go at Mater....this time on top of 10" & 8" round tiers, decorated like Radiator Springs and Mater's junkyard....white cake covered in BC.....MMF & gum paste accents.....Mater is RKT covered in BC, then MMF......completely edible except for toothpicks holding side mirrors on and holding up the tires on the Tow Mater sign.....i ended up rear-ending someone immediately after dropping this cake off.....thank God that not only are my kids & car okay, but that the cake was not still in the car!

This looks amazing. I am working on a Mater cake for my nephew and I hope my cake comes out 1/2 as nice as yours. Can you give me any hints on making this cake? When you covered it in fondant, did you do it as one piece over the carved cake or did you do it piece work?

moralna - mater was actually rice krispie treats (not cake)...i just gave him a coat of BC and smoothed that after it crusted....then i covered him with one piece of MMF - he's nice because tears and holes are okay.....he's supposed to be beat up  and i paint him later with brown, blue, green to make him look dirty and to show his faded paint job....that helps cover the booboos too....good luck! :D
