Birthday Carrot Cake
This is my first paid cake. My boyfriends company bought if from me for his birthday party at work. It's carrot cake with cream cheese frosting. I messed up the basketweave but nobody seemed to notice. It's 2 - 9" layers (not torted). I got $30 (in Boston)...what does everbody think of that price??
CONGRATS!!!!! A 10" cake in NYC costs around $40.00, so I think the price was fair. For corporate cakes though, I've found in my personal experience that you can charge a bit more. They do have an expense account, and are not as nit-picking as regular customers. The Madonna Cake I did for MTV was priced well over $100.00.
Messed up on the basketweave where? Looks awesome to me! I think 30.00 is a good starting point. Make sure you know what it cost you to make. Keep up the great work!
