A Modern Take On Stars And Stripes
my first cake! and a square one at that! i wasn't sure which album to put this cake in...it's my first cake, practice only, and it wasn't for any particular theme or person. i called it "a modern take on stars and stripes" - but i'm Canadian, so it isn't all that patriotic! :) it is a chai spice cake with chocolate buttercream (crusting) inside and out, then wilton fondant (YUK!) for the stars and stripes. since there wasn't much fondant it didn't taste too bad mixed with the cake and buttercream!

thanks ladies! chai spice cake = i used a recipe from this website called "chai tea cake from cake mix" i didn't use nutmeg though and added 1/8 tsp ground black pepper, i also ground my cardamom and cloves from whole spice - it really made the house smell terrific and it tastes great too!
