Modern Ghana Bridal Gown Cake

This was my contribution to the Brides Around the World collaboration. My cake inspiration comes from a beautiful wedding dress from Ghana. Ghanaian weddings are time of celebration where the traditional Kente print plays a large role. Each color has a symbolic meaning expressing history, social values and ethics. I used wafer paper to recreate the four patterns and applied each one to the fondant covered tiers. The cake topper head wrap, known as the duku was created using wafer paper treated with Flexique and highlighted with a gold pattern. The tiny blue fondant ruffles are slightly tipped with gold and the cake is finished with little plumeria sugar flowers.
