Ruffles And Gold
I made my daughter's wedding cake which consisted of cream cheese pound cake, pink lemonade, and red velvet cake. Each tier was covered in fondant. The bottom tier had fondant ruffles tipped in gold. The second and third tiers had various shades of pearl and gold sugar beads; which were created using lustre dust and vodka.
hi nice. i would like to kow how you added the pearls to the cake
Thank you for the compliment. To attach the pearls i sat the tier in a pan to catch the ones that fell. I painted sections on the top with an edible glue made from typos and water. I mixed a variety of colored pearls and took small handfuls and layed them on the cake. For the sides I painted an uneven band and put the pearls in my hand and lightly pressed them on the glue. I added the random pearls down the sides with tweezers and also filled in the empty spaces with tweezers. It was a rather time consuming task, but I was pleased with the look when finished. I would love to hear if anyone has an easier way to add pearls in mass to a cake.
