Easter Birthday Blessings

This is a very very special cake I created for my beloved brother who turned the big 'five 0' on Sunday. He is a Catholic priest and the feast was Palm Sunday...which the liturgical colour is red. His request was only for the praying hands, but I wanted to make his day extra special by adding the stained glass window tier...also for Holy Week and Easter Sunday. The top tier is a soft marbled icing with the hands drawn directly onto the cake. I'm not sure if it was madness or divine inspiration that made me take on this task of copying the famous drawing by the German artist Albrecht Durer! The stained glass window is also all hand painted directly onto the cake. This was based on a beautiful window of a church in America. The gold icing trim added a touch of class to go with my new cake stand I got for Christmas. The cake needed to travel 250 kms to his party as he is now based in regional Victoria! Wishing all members of Cake Central a happy and holy Easter. xx Marianne

Wow!  What a stunning piece of work!  You are very talented, the stained glass and praying hands look incredible!  I hope the cake made the journey safely.   Happy Easter to you and yours.

I'm a fervent Catholic, and this beautiful work of art (and faith) made special this holy week. What a joy to have a brother Priest. I offer our humble prayers, for him, and for this beautiful piece to arrive as beautiful as it looks in the pictures.

He is Risen!,

Alleluia! Happy Easter!.

That cake just took my breath away.  It's absolutely stunning.  I can only imagine the hours of work and love that went into that project.  Outstanding job!
