A little baby boy in a spiderman costume with his cuddly little teddy bear. The request was for a spiderman themed birthday cake for a little boy turning one and this is what I came up with. I wanted the cake to have a 'spidey' feel to it and at the same time look kind of cute as well. I hope I have achieved that.

The tiers are 15 cm and 22 cm. Both tiers are white cake filled with raspberry mousse, raspberry compote and vanilla mousse and are covered in swiss meringue buttercream and then with fondant. All decorations are handmade out of fondant to which I have added Tylose powder. The little boy is my second attempt at modelling a face out of the same piece of fondant. I'm quite happy with how he turned out although there is still room for improvement!

The little boy and teddy bear are inspired by Carlos Lischetti's figuriines. I was inspired by lots of great cakes here on Cake Central and especially by the lovely cake uploaded by tennilley. 'Grattis' means congratulations in Swedish. TFL!
