Wolf Birthday Cake
This is a cake for a man whose nickname is Wolf. The top tier is supposed to be a cave. The look of the cave didn't come out quite as I pictured in my mind, but all in all, I am happy with it. It is a Milky Way cake w/caramel filling and chocolate buttercream icing and some fondant decorations, including the "mouth" of the cave, some leaves and the moon. The wolf is a chocolate transfer and the lettering on top of the cake is also chocolate. Thanks for looking.
Once I read that the top layer is the cave, I can totally see it. Would you share the recipe for your cake?
Very cool cake - my son is named Wolfgang so I had to come look! I love the wolf and milky way sounds soooo good - is the recipe found here?
darandon - the recipe is actually pretty simple. I use the DH yellow cake mix and add the extender recipe and then I chopped up a bag of mini Milky Way bars and folded them into the recipe. I have to say though that I had some trouble with the candy sticking to the bottom of the pans. So I found an easier way, which I am going to try for my next MW cake and that is you melt a 12 oz bag of MW's with a 1/2 stick of butter and then blend it into the batter before baking. I will let you know how it goes.
