This cake is decorated in buttercream. I made this for a little girl who loves rainbows and colors. So the outside has a nice simple rainbow of color, but let me tell you, you should have seen her look of surprise when we cut into it! I dyed the batter for each layer a color, and they are about 1/2 inch in height each. Yes, it was a very tall cake!
