My niece wanted a gazelle cake. I asked her if antelope would do, and she was OK with that. Found a couple of safari cakes here on CC (thanks will follow.) Had all sorts of trouble with the cake: used a new cake recipe, which didn't bake up the way I wanted; the icing was too thin; my fondant was too wet and ripped; then I couldn't get it smooth. It didn't turn out as well as I had hoped, but I learned from my experiences. I am glad it was just for family. The cake is RV with dulce de leche BC, covered in fondant,and painted with gel diluted with vodka. My niece wanted black cupcakes on top (not sure why), so that's what I did.
