This is the cake I sent to my daughter's preschool today for Dr. Suess's birthday. This cake was a lot of fun, and it was really hard to get all my ideas to mesh together. So I decided to try to find a way to get several of my favorite characters on the cake. I also really wanted to get some of my favorite quotes on from the stories. It turned out sloppier than I had hoped, but I was running short on time (sick kids, ugh). it was actually going to have two more tiers in my original sketch but just didn't have the time to get them done. I also had trouble when I cut into the bottom tier to look like torn pages, the frosting and cake stuck to the fondant that I pulled back. That was really disappointing, but I cleaned it up as well as I could. The characters are hand painted with diluted icing color onto fondant and cutout. Most of the cake is covered in fondant. The cake inside was white and chocolate. Thanks for looking:)
