This is my favorite cake to date. This cake took on a life of it's own. The base and mountain are made from yellow cake and frosted with butter cream frosting, then air brushed with color. The cars, and Tow-Mater, were hand sculpted from fondant, gum paste, and modeling chocolate. The rocks, and the sign, are made from fondant, and hand painted. the entire cake is eatable, even the route 66 sign post was made from royal frosting. The black top effect of the road was achieved by using black fondant, with poppy seeds.
