Batman Birthday Cake

Batman Birthday Cake on Cake Central

My favorite boy, Graham, turned 4 in 2010 and this year he wanted a Batman cake. I took a photo of him with his Batman mask on and superimposed it onto a great photo of the "real" Batman in Photoshop. I lamenated the photo as well as other photos of Gothom City and Batman logos. The lamenating process seals the photos, preventing oils from the cake from getting on the photos. They can then be taped or hot glued to picks for placing on the cake. This allows me to give a lot of detail to the cake without taking the large amount of time it would if the details were created with icing. Also, after the cake is served, I take some of the best lamenated photos and hot glue a magnet on the backs which kids always love to have. On this cake I also used some great Batmobiles and other cars from the Batman series to decorate with. The cars were my gift to the birthday boy. I used Silly Putty to attach them to a lamenated sheet of colored paper that had a toothpick hot glued to it and stuck the cars around the cake as they circled Gothom City. The Batplane had the perfect hole made into the bottom of it for inserting a wooden skewer which I mounted and placed on the table behind the cake. The cake was chocolate with buttercream icing and although it was fresh and tasty, Graham as Batman along with the other Batman references were the best parts of this cake for the birthday boy!
