The birthday boy turning 7 simply loves Sonic. His favourite colours are black and blue and he loves to play with Lego. I combined all of these 'ingredients' in his Sonic birthday cake. The cake is made of two layers. The bottom layer is a very light and fluffy vanille bisquit cake made out of a lot of eggs and sugar and just a little bit of flower (as he wanted the 'fluffiest cake ever). I whipped eggs, sugar and vanilla for about 15 minutes until it was about 4 times the quantity (with all the air beaten inside) then slowely and carefully folded in the flower. This cake is filled with a vanilla buttercream, strawberies and then covered with buttercream and decorated with marzipan. The second (top) cake is also a very fluffy cake, made in the same way, but with a dust of chocolate added to it. Then filled with vanilla buttercream and covered in buttercream and again a marzipan decoration. The whole Sonci is made out of marzipan but put on a seperate layer of marzipan so the birthday boy can easily cut it of and keep it. The blue decorations all have footprints of Sonic on them and the bottem cake is decorated with Lego bricks (eatable). Quite a job, but I'm proud and his mom who just picked up the cake was extatic!
