I would use dowels in each supporting cake layer, then one central dowel through the bottom three cake layers; then I would stack the top few cakes, and put a central dowel through them. I hope that makes sense! :)

Thanks! I used the ready made wilton frosting to cut down on my time - it was a dummy cake for a wedding show.
