My First Cake
This is my first attempt at cake making/decorating. I haven't taken a class yet but my husband just bought me private lessons which I am very excited about. I made this cake for my mother-in-law's birthday. Its a regular 9 inch cake.
First attempt? Unbelieveable. It's beautiful.
First cake??? I'm amazed - you must follow directions out of books extremely well. Especially to do the flowers - just amazing. It is covered in fondant, isn't it?
Thanks! Yes, the cake is covered in fondant and the flowers are also fondant. I just went for my private lesson with Elisa Strauss of Confetti Cakes and I feel so much better about covering the cake (I had issues) and am going to try using gumpaste for decorations (I really wasn't sure what it was! lol). Before my lesson, I had only gone online to try to find out how to do these things but reading hardly compared with someone showing me hands on. Hope I can try again soon!
