Halloween Cake For Duff's Extreme Cake Competition

Halloween Cake For Duff's Extreme Cake Competition on Cake Central

This was my entry for a cake competition that was judged by Duff Goldman, in Rockford IL. The event was a fundraiser for a local Childrens' Museum. Here's a link to more of my pictures from the competition: http://www.flickr.com/photos/15588893@N07/sets/72157602613843584/

Great design, I love it. what are the "balls" made of, and how did you put them between the tiers? Thanks.

the whole cake is styro - so the balls are styro too. If you wanted to make these edible, you'd have to do them with RKT.

Thanks everyone for the compliments!! Duff said that my piping was very clean, and I think he said he like my use of color. The hardest part was the tentacles. They're made of rice krispy treats over wire. I made them out of aluminum foil first, to get the curve and size the way I wanted it, and then I used the foil tentacle as a guide for the RKT one.

Wow - this is so cool! I was hoping to read that you AT LEAST placed with this because it's amazing. I love the tentacles! ;-D
