This is my second sunflower cake. It's pretty similar to the first one. I added lady bugs leftover from my ladybug cake just because it looked cute. It's all buttercream except for the sunflowers and ladybugs. They are Royal.

I am curious as to the reason for using both royal and buttercream rather than one or the other. I am new at this. Can you please explain? Your cake is just LOVELY!
I use buttercream to ice the cake. You don't EVER want to ice a cake with Royal because it dries hard, like candy. I like to do my ladybugs and sunflowers in royal because they dry hard and I can just place them on the cake where I want them. They wouldn't be hard to do in buttercream, but they are easier and the customer likes the royal. SO, that's it really. And thank you:) I'm pretty new at this too! :)
