I came across this site by accident and have been hooked ever since. I've been lurking on this site for months, reading and learning. A big THANK YOU to all of you for introducing me to this wonderful hobby and sharing so much of your knowledge. I have never decorated a cake before. Did my very first one 4 days ago and have uploaded my picture.
I live in Hong Kong..found that they do have wilton courses here ! But I can't do them right now so teaching myself. You all have made this possible and I just can't thank you guys enough. Anyone else here in Hong Kong ?

Welcome to the forum. I have learned so much from here it's unbelievable!! Everyone has something nice to say always!! Great advice, great directions! Great friendships~
Your cake is very nice! Nice job! Keep practicing & you can teach yourself~ Can't wait to see other pics from you~
supremo job lagunalady... great colors... what tips did you use??? and what size is it and how many layers???
Lisa, there you go again!! How did you do that Welcome thing??? Cool!!
Diane, you won't believe how ignorant I am about cake making !! I had absolutely no idea this could be done. I'm Indian..(not Native American - Indian as in from India). Cake making is not part of my culture. We don't make cakes for weddings. Birthdays yes but not everyone and usually it's bought. If you think my cake is good the credit goes to this website !! Like I said I've been on this website for months reading everything but didn't do anything. When I made this cake I was armed with all the knowledge
I bought the wilton 101 piece decorating set and am enjoying myself. Thanks for the compliment, I'm on cloud 9. I do have looooong way to go. The top border is supposed to be shell border
I'm working on that now. Hopefully my next cake will have a respectable shell pattern
flayvurdun... the cake is 2 layered 6" round. I used tips 3, 16, 18, 21. Ovens are hard to find in Hong Kong. I bought a tiny table top electrical oven over 4 years ago..I wish I had bought a larger one. I can't bake a sheet cake in this tiny oven.
And had to bake 2 6" layers one at a time.
Thank you guys for your words of encouragement. I love you.
