I’m baking a cake that is 12” x 6”, 8”x 6” and 5” x 6 “. How to I best prevent all the frosting from the bottom tiers from sticking to the bottom of the cake round on top of it?

I suppose by now the cake has been made and consumed… but for future reference:

once the tier is iced mark the area where the next tier goes & cover it with fine crumbs.  Can use crackers, dried cake  or cookie crumbs.  A solid thin layer works well.
