Hi all,

There is another option for staying together, CakesDecor.  It is another huge site, like Cake Central used to be, but the Forum, which works just like this one, is used only sparingly and if we follow each other, which we would, we would receive a notice whenever we entered a cake photo, a Forum discussion or other activity on the site.  At least right now, it is being maintained well and is active.

Just a thought.

I'm like Sandra in both sites, and as I said before, I’m more active in CC that what I’m in CD…. to me CakesDecor feels like a huuuuge mega mall. In the other hand, even declining, Cake Central feels more like a cozy country store… But the fate of this site in unknown... I do want to keep in touch! See you ladies here, there and in the mail list. Happy Thanksgiving. As for the many thanks I give today, I also thank God for the sweet-cakey-crazy-friends I found here.

Is CC going away?

It is an option, but for some reason, I never liked CD that well.  Maybe it's the format, dunno. This one is much easier to navigate, and I'm computer comfortable.

I don't know of another solution though. I'm on Facebook, but am getting tired of it.  I'm not on there as much as I once was. I think social media in general is getting to me

The major asset of this site is the huge files that one can access.  The photo gallery, tne recipes, the forum topics.

Isn’t there a way most of the information can be transferred??   I’d be willing to help with it   I realize how much on here isn’t worth moving but also know much is

Christie, It seems as though Cake Central is dying, no longer being maintained and the spam is taking over.  More and more the features will not work.  We are just trying to be preemptive and find us a way to stay together in case it goes belly up.

Katy, on of the Administrators on Keep Calm and Cake On requested that you post some cakes, cookies, pies, cupcakes, whatever you bake on your FaceBook page so they can see that you are a serious applicant to the site and not just a spammer.  They get many of those!  Thanks!

So... for those that did want to go over to Cakes Decor...

I did just post in the "introduce yourself" section of their forum and used cake central as a keyword...

If you go to their forums and put cake central into the search bar, you will find it... I am hoping...

Just to build on sandra's idea...

that way there are two options...

-K8, lots of pictures get posted every day (one Cakes Decor) and there are lots of comments on them, but there is little activity in the Forum.  I don't really know why because it works just like this one.  Perhaps because they need us, lol!

Did anyone else get the CakeCentral Cyber Monday newsletters this weekend? Kind of strange that someone apparently took the time to create and send a newsletter, but there's still no effort to clean up the spam.

I didn't receive the newsletter, but just got an email with the Cyber Monday sale for Marvelous Molds and it is showing that it is on Cake Central.  I thought that was pretty odd.

I am having difficulty joining the FB group...

I am guessing it is because my page is private...

I did message two of the admins, but I didn't receive any message back...

I guess I am just not special enough... LOL

AAtKT, did you see my post asking you to be sure there are cake pictures (or cookies, pies, brownies, whatever) on your FB page?  Keep Calm and Cake On gets gillions of scam requests and the admins (being aware that a lot of us from CC are joining) requested pictures on your page to show that you are legit.  Also, if you will give me the name of your FB page, I will recommend you to the admins.  I am one of the original members of the group, which was formed for the same reason we are all moving there.  Our original group fell apart.

I’ve been thinking about a  new home   Most of us have gone over to KC&CO but.....it is so hard to join that group so how are new people going to be able to post ?s    Looks to me  It’s mostly just a place for us to talk amongst ourselves /keep together :(    Don’t get me wrong I’m happy for that but it won’t be as helpful to the many who need/want help like we did on CC

We can always help people on Keep Calm, but the biggest lack, in my opinion, is the vast library of topics and recipes which we will loose.  The only way I know of to save it is for someone else to take over the site, which we cannot do because we can't get hold of the owners.

Agreed SandraSmiley.  After all these years, I still search the forums & recipes for topics that I'm interested in.  It's 'the vast library' that is the most valuable here.

But then I also miss full service gas stations, travel agencies that make all your travel arrangements for you, a good old fashioned home phone with a big fat hand set that you can put up to your ears,  and small Mom & Pop local restaurants that actually cook actual food for you without thawing bags of frozen stuff.  I suppose we'll miss CakeCentral some day also.

What about we start copy & paste some threads over to Keep Calm?   If 6 or 8 of us did say 3 or 4 a day we’d save some

kakeladi/lynne I can tell you, since I know a couple of the admins on K O & CO, they would not appreciate the fb page being flooded with copy/paste threads from CC. After all, KO & CO is it’s own page, with it’s own members contributing cakes, helpful information...etc. I know many here worry about the demise of the information here on CC. How to’s, recipes, etc. But other than perhaps some of recipes, a lot of the information here is seriously outdated. When I’ve googled some decorating info needed, and a CC thread has come up, almost inevitably, I have found the information just isn’t current enough. This may sound sacrilegious, but I’ve never searched CC for recipes or help. I’ve googled, and check out the plethora of what comes up, or go to YouTube. When CC started, the site was the king of the hill because cake decorating was just taking off for everyday decorators.  And there just wasn’t a lot of cake decorating information out there.  Not so now. As I said, decorating information is now readily accessible and available. I joined CC in 2006 because I was making my nieces wedding cake, and there was literally no decorating information out there.
