Does anyone have a good vanilla cupcake recipe they are willing to share? I've tried so many these past few days and I don't like any of them. They all call for cake flour which I find gives the cupcakes a bad aftertaste and smell. TIA!

I actually stopped reading your post after the 1st ?.   It sounds to me like you have a bad batch of flour.  Have you tried using AP instead, adding some baking powder & soda?
