I'm constantly looking up new recipes to accommodate what I want to make. I was wondering if there was like a basic recipe, where you add the flavors you want.

Like for frosting and cakes.

Didn't know if there was a basic buttercream frosting recipe where you can add the extract you want, vanilla extract, almond extract,or cream cheese extract, ECT. Based on the flavor you want. And still get a nice consistency and good flavor.

Was wondering the same for cakes.

Is there a recipe for cakes where you can add your extract/coco powder?

I'm sure if there is one, it won't work for EVERYTHING obviously.

Was just wondering. Thank you for your time. :)

You can pretty much customize your go-to white cake recipe to any flavor.  I've used mine to make flavors such as lemon lavender, Cara Cara orange, almond, spice, cardamom, mocha, tchai tea.

You simply add extracts, or spices, or flavored sugar.

When you start using ingredients like cocoa powder, you need to subtract an equal amount of flour since cocoa powder adds weight.  Cocoa powder will require additional moisture as well.

Buttercream can be just as simple.  But it depends too on type of buttercream and the ingredients you want to use to flavor it.  Adding liqueur, melted chocolate, espresso powder, etc can usually be added without making adjustments.  But if you introduce ingredients with a high moisture content, like some fruits, you should research and experiment.
