I've been asked to recreate this close dimensional dot on the middle tier for a wedding cake . I've searched the Internet for this pattern to no avail. I'm assuming it's an onlay or impression mat. Has anyone seen this? Know where I can order it from? Has anyone used an regular impression mat to make a raised pattern in buttercream?[postimage id="4587" thumb="900"]
It looks a bit like rows of white fondant pearls. But that would be a he'll of a lot of work.
Still no luck finding an embossing mat, rolling pin, stencil... Honeycomb ones, like ropalma suggested, all have a hexagon shape to them and I'm not sure that she wants that. Anyone else have any luck since?
Crazy 'mounts of pearls julia1812!! Would def be last resort, along with piping...could you imagine cutting into all those pearls?! Haha...they'd be everywhere.
This almost looks like it, but not quite. I also do not recommend Ali Express, but I don't see this anywhere else :( Maybe you could make your own texture mat with a bunch of pearl strands lined up? The Make Your Own Mold stuff is good, but not sure about using pearl strands to recreate that texture.
This may sound crazy; however, have you thought of using the base plate of a lego board? If you pressed your fondant onto the upside down base you might get something close to what you are looking for. HTH
Global Sugar Art has Pearl Silicone Impression Mat by Lisa Mansour that looks like it.

Thank you 640cake, that looks promising. But have you had a bad experience with the seller?
Yellowdog, hadn't thought of that one! Lol However I do need it to be flexible because I really need to imprint this into buttercream.
Thank you ropalma, that looks good because I'm looking for something with the least amount of edge.
Thank you ALL for your input! I greatly appreciate you taking the time.
One this that has not been mentioned (however it is not food grade) is to use a piece of plastic that is used to cover florescent lights. Look in the hardware store like Home Depot
I have no personal experience with Ali Express - never ordered from the site, just did not hear good things about them, like sometimes what you order is not what you get. It's a knockoff and not a good one at that. Here are two threads that discuss issues with ordering from Ali Express:
