My good friend loves pumpkin everything. Her birthday is in July and I know this isn't the season for pumpkin but I wanted to make her a pumpkin cake. I love the WASC recipe and was wondering if anyone has ever tried a pumpkin spice cake using the recipe?  If so would you share your thoughts and suggestions?  Also what icing would you suggest?

Yes, I have :)  Use a spice mix  (OR a yellow and add the usual pumpkin pie spices as if making a pie) and add 1C pumpkin puree.  Reduce the liquid ..... can't remember now how much but probably by at least 1/2 C  Just add the water slowly until the batter consistency seems the same as usual - (just flow-y enough don't get it too thin) is what I would do now.

Thanks for the suggestion. I thought about he pumpkin but was't sure how much, I was afraid of it being too wet. Good suggestion on adding the water. I will certainly give it a try. May I ask what kind of frosting, buttercream, cream cheese??

Either icing would work just fine.
