I don't have anything to add that hasn't been said, but I just had a 4 tier cake lean on me last weekend at an anniversary party.  I felt absolutely sick, I feel your pain.

Good luck, OP! I'd come right over to help you, if I could! But you can do it!

I applaud you for trying, and I feel so bad for you. I wonder if it isn't time to admit defeat. Either bake or go out and buy enough sheet cakes to cover the servings and give her a full refund (plus anything else needed to satisfy her). Is it for a wedding?

AAwe no I sooo feel for you. Its just one of those days where everything goes wrong doesn't it. Sometimes I have a day where everything goes wrong that I want to give then I think of why I'm doing this and how special it's going to be for the person and try to save things. Sometimes it works and cakes turns out better than the original and sometime it doesn't. I had once had to do a Lego cake for a lady and had 3 other cake orders to do and was sooo overwhelmed with everything. Her cake didn't turn out that great and I was crying my eyes out so I gave it to her for free and just seeing her disappointment made it even worse. I swore off cakes forever at that moment and just thought I never want to do this again after I finish the orders I had for that week. But in my head at least I knew I gave her a cake that tastes amazing.

Two days laters I did an angry bird cake and it was the best cake I ever made and it boosted my self confidence again in my baking and decorating abilities. Seeing the customers excited face and her telling me non stop thank you and how much her 5 year old son will love it brought back my smile and the reason why I love my job.

So it's ok to have a bad day don't dwell on it too much even though I know the feeling. I'm sure you are a great baker and sometimes things just go wrong and we should take it as a learning experience. Would love to know how you went. Please keep us posted.

Good luck!
